Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Student Counselor to join our team in Kathmandu. The Student Counselor will play a crucial role in advising and supporting Nepali students seeking to study in India. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong understanding of the Indian education system, and a genuine desire to help students achieve their academic goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one counseling to students and their families regarding educational opportunities in India.
- Assess students' academic backgrounds, interests, and career goals to recommend suitable universities, programs, and courses in India.
- Guide students through the entire application process, including preparing and reviewing documents, meeting deadlines, and communicating with Indian universities.
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information on Indian universities, admission requirements, eligibility criteria, and the Indian education system.
- Assist students with visa applications, documentation, and interview preparation in coordination with the Visa and Documentation Support Officer.
- Organize and conduct seminars, workshops, and information sessions to promote study opportunities in India.
- Maintain strong relationships with partner universities and institutions in India.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments and changes in the Indian education sector, including admission policies, visa regulations, and scholarship opportunities.
- Provide ongoing support to students throughout their application process and pre-departure preparations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and track application progress.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in education counseling or a similar role, preferably with experience in overseas education.
- Strong knowledge of the Indian education system, universities, and programs.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build rapport with students and their families.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Fluency in Nepali and English is essential.
- Knowledge of visa application processes for India is preferred.
